Calibration Lab

All FLEX sensor modules are calibrated by RH Systems in Gilbert, Arizona.

As a NVLAP accredited laboratory, RH Systems is reassessed to ensure that our quality and practices maintain such standards (NVLAP Laboratory Code 600161-0). The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) administers the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP). NVLAP accredits public and private laboratories based on evaluation of their technical qualifications and competence to carry out specific calibrations or tests. NVLAP provides an unbiased third-party evaluation and recognition of performance. NVLAP accreditation signifies that a laboratory has demonstrated that it operates in accordance with NVLAP management and technical requirements pertaining to quality systems; personnel; accommodation and environment; test and calibration methods; equipment; measurement tractability; sampling; handling of test and calibration items; and test and calibration reports (https://www.nist.gov/nvlap/about-nvlap).

FAQ
  1. What is an SF6 Analyzer?

    • An SF6 Analyzer is an instrument designed for analyzing the purity and composition of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) in gas-insulated equipment. This device not only measures the concentration of SF6 but also quantifies various contaminants such as moisture and other gas by-products. These analyses are crucial for maintaining the health and efficiency of high-voltage electrical equipment.
  2. How does an SF6 Analyzer work?

    • A portable SF6 Analyzer draws a gas sample from equipment, using electrochemical sensors or infrared absorption to analyze SF6 concentration and purity. Designed for field use, it allows real-time, on-site testing with a user-friendly interface, ideal for quick diagnostics and inspections.
  3. What are the key features of the FLEX?

    • The FLEX is the only SF6 gas analyzer that is fully manufactured & serviced in the US. Not only that, it is the only analyzer that does not have to be sent back for calibration. Since the sensors are the things that need to be calibrated, we designed the FLEX to have quick swapping sensor modules that allows the customer to complete the calibration process in under a minute.
  4. In what applications is an SF6 Analyzer typically used?

    • SF6 Analyzers are primarily used in the electrical industry, particularly in the maintenance and testing of gas-insulated switchgear, circuit breakers, and transformers. They are essential tools for ensuring the proper functioning of high-voltage equipment, diagnosing potential problems, and preventing equipment failure due to contaminated or impure SF6 gas.
  5. How do you calibrate an SF6 Analyzer?

    • With the FLEX, it’s as easy as swapping in a new calibrated sensor module. The device automatically recognizes the new calibrated module and updates the system with the new calibration due dates.
  6. What maintenance is required for an SF6 Analyzer?

    • Regular maintenance of an SF6 Analyzer typically includes cleaning, inspection of components, firmware updates, and calibration checks. We also recommend flushing the system with pure nitrogen in order to clean out the plumbing and sensors from any previous contaminated tests.
  7. Can the SF6 Analyzer detect other gases?

    • Yes, besides measuring SF6 purity, our analyzers are capable of detecting and quantifying several contaminants and by-products in the gas, such as humidity, CF4, and SO2. This multi-gas detection capability is critical for comprehensive analysis and monitoring of gas-insulated electrical equipment.
  8. How is data from the SF6 Analyzer recorded and accessed?

    • Our SF6 Analyzer comes equipped with data logging capabilities, allowing for the storage and retrieval of measurement data. The data can be exported via the USB port and provided USB stick.
  9. What training is required to operate an SF6 Analyzer?

  • Operating an SF6 Analyzer requires basic training in handling SF6 gas and understanding the analyzer’s functions.
  1. How can I get a quote or request a demo for the FLEX?
